Funeral services for Birdie Lee Johnson Stout, age 81, will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home with interment in the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 29, 2012, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and on Friday, March 30, 2012, from 11:00 am until time of services.

Mrs. Stout went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2012, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN with her loving family by her side.

She was born March 25, 1931, in Jackson County, TN to the late Bill C. and Letha Catherine Halfacre Johnson.

Mrs. Stout worked in management at the Cookeville Peebles Store until her retirement. She was a member of the Bloomington Springs Church of Christ. She loved spending time and taking care of her family, singing gospel music, cooking but most of all she loved her Lord. She was a loving wife and mother and a cherished grandmother and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years: James Stout of Baxter, sons: Randy Stout and wife Jan of Bloomington Springs, Jeff Stout and wife Cathy and Sam Stout and Jennifer Stephens all of Cookeville, a sister: Christine Webb of Cookeville, a granddaughter: Jennifer Welch and husband Chad and great-grandchildren: Emie and Miles Welch, a sister-in-law: Peggy Keith Stout of Cookeville, numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Gene and Troy Johnson and sisters: Avannah Mills, Ruth Pippin and Shirley Quillen.

Pall Bearers will be Shane, Donnie and Bill Johnson, Jimmy Roberts, Keith McCormick and Tim Hite.

Bros. Paul Fox, Johnny Fox and Clarence Deloach will officiate at the services.

I was very saddened to hear of Mrs Birdie's passing. I will miss her so much. She always brought a smile to my face when she came in to the office.
