Funeral Services for Joe W. Haney, age 86, will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home with burial in the Cookeville City Cemetery with Full Military Honors.   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 10:00 am until time of the service.

Mr. Haney passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Bethesda Health Care Center.

He was born on September 13, 1925, in Jackson County, TN to the late Willie Carson and Ella Harley Haney.

Mr. Haney was retired from the State of Tennessee as a Geologist and was owner and operator of the Haney Shoprite Market.  He was employed with Standard Oil Company for more than 20 years.  Mr. Haney was a member of the Mason/Shriners and served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was a member of the Bloomington Springs Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Dorothy Adams Haney of Cookeville, a daughter: Janet Kaye Haney of Chattanooga, TN, two sisters: Edith Louise Norton of Cookeville and Dorothy Ivajean Pippin and husband Daniel of Bloomington Springs, TN, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Willie Carson Haney, Fred Marshall Haney and Louis Wyatt Haney, and a sister: Frances Louise Haney.

Pall Bearers will be family and friends.

Bro. Paul Fox will officiate at the services.
