A Celebration of Life for Joyce Armistead, age 68, will be Saturday, March 13, 2010, beginning at 3:30 pm from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 3:30 - 9 pm. Mrs. Armistead passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010. She was born June 14, 1941, in Putnam County to the late Carson & Ollie Short Allen. Mrs. Armistead was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith. Her family includes her husband Joe Armistead of Murfreesboro, Three sons: Tommy & Ricky Peak & Anthony White all of Murfreesboro. Two daughters: Sharon Smithers of Murfreesboro, and Lisa Young of Scott County, TN, A brother James Danny Allen, two sisters Rose L. Clouse and Barbara Barksdale. Grandchildren: Donnie, Justin, Campbell & Christian Peak, Jennifer Carr, Tera & Amanda Semler, Felecia & Kelvin Young, Aaron White & Lindsey Yates. Step-Granddaughter: Toni McGill, Great-Grandchild: Christopher Tarpley (Colby). She was preceded in death by her parents, sons: Donnie & Ronnie Peak, daughters: Tresa & Brenda Peak, a brother Cecil Allen, & a sister Julie Cleghorn. Memorial donations should be made to the American Cancer Association.
